Step-by-step explanation:

As for 40km we require 1L

therefore,

for \: 15km \: we \: require = \: 15 \times \frac{1}{40} \\ = \frac{3}{8} \\ = 0.375

now as 1L costs 85

therefore,

it will cost 0.375x85 for 15km, which is equal to 31.875

hope it helps

40 km cost = 85

1 km cost = 85/40

15 km cost = 15 × 85/ 40

= 31.875
