GIVEN

A card is picked by random

TO DETERMINE

The probability of picking a number that is a multiple of 4

EVALUATION

Total number of cards = 52

So total number of possible outcomes = 52

Let A be the event that of picking a number that is a multiple of 4

There are 4 types of cards Spades, Hearts, Diamonds and Clubs each of 13

Now multiple of 4 when playing cards are concerned are 4 and 8

So total number of multiple of 4

= 2 × 4

= 8

So the total number of possible outcomes for the event A is 8

Hence the required probability

  \displaystyle\sf{ =  \frac{8}{52}  }
