If a cell has 40pg DNA in 20 chromosomes at prophase 1 then the amount of DNA and chromosome no. in gamete is 10pg and 10 chromosome.

  • It is a type of meiotic division which occurs normally during gamers formation.
  • During gamete formation, if the cell is in prophase 1 than it divide into daughter chromosomes having half the chromosome number in each and the DNA content also halfed as the chromatids remain attached
  • In meiosis 2, DNA content again halves but this time chrimatids remain attached and chromosomes number remains same.
  • Hence, at the end the amount of DNA and chromosome no. in gamete is 10pg and 10 chromosome.
