⭐A hypertonic solution is one in which there is more solute outside the cell than inside.

⭐ This means that water is more concentrated inside the cell than outside.

⭐Because of osmosis, water will always travel from high concentration to low concentration, so water will travel from inside the cell to outside the cell.

The water will move towards the low water concentration. Adding solute decreases the water potential in the solution. So, it will all result in shrinking of the cell,and thus water moves outside the cell and plasmolysis takes place.
