Resistance,R=p(l/A)………..(1)
p is resistivity of material of wire.
l is length of wire.
A is area of cross section of wire.
We multiply and divide equation (1) by l, then
R=p(l^2/lA). But, lA is volume of wire which does not change in stretching . Therefore ,
R is proportional to l^2.
Then, if we double l, R becomes R'=4R.
