I think something mistake in question please check your question
it is a cos A = 1.. cos instead of cot..

a cos A = 1 sec A = a
b cot A = 1 tan A = b
as sec^2 A - tan^2 A = 1
a^2 - b^2 = 1
b cot A = 1 tan A = b
as sec^2 A - tan^2 A = 1
a^2 - b^2 = 1
