If a diploid cell with 20 chromosomes and 32 C DNA enters a cell cycle then what will be the number of chromosomes and DNA after S-phase? O 20 chromosomes and 32 C DNA O 20 chromosomes and 64 C DNA 40 chromosomes and 32 C DNA O 40 chromosomes and 64 C DNA plz help me out​

After DNA S-phase amount if DNA is doubled but chromosomes number remains same as they separate at Anaphase stage. So correct answer will be 20 chromosomes and 64C DNA.

Calculation:

In S phase (a part of Interphase : SYNTHETIC PHASE), the cell duplicate majority of its cellular organelles, DNA, histone proteins, etc. which can be later divided among the daughter cells.

  • So, DNA gets duplicated (i.e. doubled) in amount, but NUMBER OF CHROMOSOMES REMAINS SAME !

So, after S phase :

  • 64 C DNA
  • 20 chromosomes

will be seen in the cell.
