Let C = 100
So B = 20% less than C or 80% of C = 80/100×100 = 80
And A exceeds B by 40%
So A = B + 40% of B
         = 80 + 80 × 40/100 = 112

So A : C = A/C = 112/100 = 28/25

A = B + 40% of B

A = 140/100 * B

Now,

A/B = 14/10

B = C - 20% of C

B = 80/100 *C

B/C = 8/10

SO,

A/C = (A/B) * (B/C) = (14 *8) / (10 *10) = 28 : 25.
