Step-by-step explanation:

Farmer have 18 goats and 2 chicken

Let x be number of goats and y be number of chickens

Eqn1: x*4(goat have 4legs)+y*2(chicken have 2legs)=76

Eqn:2. x+y=20

Comparing both eqn we will have

3x+y=56

From here, y=56–3x

Putting it in eqn 2, we will get x=18.

Then, y=20-x

Y=2

Thus goats=18 and chicken=2

Let x be number of goats and y be number of chickens

Given that there is 50 legs

x*4(goat have 4legs)+y*2(chicken have 2legs)=50

4x+2y=50     -(1)

Given that there is 20 head

x + y=20       -(2)

1×[4x+2y=50]

4×[x + y=20]

4x+2y=50

4x+4y=80

-2y=-30

2y=30

y=15

put value of y in equation 1

4x+2y=50

4x+2×15=50

4x+30=50

4x=50-30

4x=20

x=5

Hence there are 5 goats and 15 chickens
