if a farmer is growing leguminous plants in his field , he doesn't have to add nitrogen fertilizer to the soil why?

well the roots of all leguminous plants contain a nitrogen fixing bacteria called rhizobium . this bacteria absorbs all the nitrogen required for the land from the atmosphere. it is present in the root nodules of all leguminous plants.
