Therefore the vertical displacement is 5 m and horizontal displacement is 10√3 m after 1 second.

Given : A football kicked from the ground moves with a velocity of 20m/s making 30° with the horizontal.

To find : find its vertical displacement and horizontal displacement after 1 second.

solution : vertical component of initial velocity, u_y = usin30° = 20sin30° = 10

horizontal component of initial velocity, u_x = ucos30° = 20cos30° = 10√3

using formula for vertical displacement,

y=u_yt+\frac{1}{2}a_yt^2

= 10 × 1 + 1/2 × (-10) × (1)²

= 10 - 5

= 5 m

using formula for horizontal displacement,

x=u_xt+\frac{1}{2}a_xt^2

= 10√3 × 1 + 1/2 × 0 × 1²

= 10√3 m

Therefore the vertical displacement is 5 m and horizontal displacement is 10√3 m after 1 second.
