Given : There are three forces 7N, 3N and 5N acts in the same direction.

To calculate : The net force.

solution : We know, force is a vector quantity. and each vector quantity has magnitude as well as direction.

Two or more vectors cannot be added by using Algebraic addition rule. [ i.e., 2 + 3 = 5 , but 2N + 3N may not be 5N ]

we use Triangle's law for vector addition.

Let's try to solve it.

7N , 3N , 5N acts in the same direction.

let all forces are acting along positive x - axis.

then, F₁ = 7i , F₂ = 3i and F₃ = 5i

Then from vector addition, Fnet = F₁ + F₂ + F₃

= 7i + 3i + 5i

= 15i

so, magnitude of net force = 15 N

and direction of net force is acting along positive x - axis. means, same direction of all given forces.

Therefore net force is 15 N acting in the same direction.
