if a fraction twice the numerator is 2 more than the denominator if 3 is added to the numerator and the denominator of the new fiction is 2/3 .find the original number

Let the numerator and denominator be x and y respectively

So according to the condition,

2x=y+2

=>y=2x-2........(1)

And,x+3/y+3=2/3

=>3(x+3)=2(y+3)

=>3x+9=2y+6

=>2y-3x=3.......(2)

Substituting (1) in (2) we get

2(2x-2)-3x=3

=>4x-4-3x=3

=>x=7

Thus y=2x-2=2×7-2=14-2=12

Thus the fraction is x/y=7/12
