If a person is facing any kind of discrimination in his or her own family the best thing he or she can do to cope with it is.....

a) Focus on their strengths

Focusing on their core values, believes and perceived strengths can motivate people to succeed and may even buffer the negative effects of bias.

b) seek support systems:

Friends and those people whom u feel comfortable with to confide in can help them to counteract the toll that micro aggressions and other examples of daily discrimination can take...

c) Getting involved:

Support doesn't have to come only from family or friend circle. They can get involved in like-minded groups and organisations, whether locally or online. It can help to know that there are other people who had had similar experiences as theirs. And connecting with those people might help them configure out how to address situations and respond to experiences of discrimination in ways they haven't thought.

d) help urself think clearly:

Being the target of discrimination may stir up a lot of strong emotions like anger, sadness, and embarrassment. Try to check it with Ur body before reacting. Slow Ur breathing or use other calming exercises, to calm down the body's stress response. Then u will be able to think clearly how to and what to respond with.

e) Don't dwell:

When u have experienced discrimination, it can be really hard to just shake it off. In a calmer moment it might be helpful to talk over the ways u can cope with similar experiences in the future. Try to come up with a plan to how u might respond or what u could do differently next time. Once u are determined how to respond try to leave the incident behind u as u go in with ua day.

f) seek professional help:

Discrimination is difficult to deal with and is often associated with symptoms of depression. Psychologists are experts in helping people manage with such symptoms, and help u find a way to cope up....

Hope it helps....
