Let a have x pen
b have y

x - 1 = y + 1

x - y = 1 + 1

x - y = 2 ...... ( i )

2 ( y - 1 ) = x

2y - 2 = x ... ( ii )

Putting value of x from ( ii ) in ( i )

x - y = 2

2y - 2 - y = 2

y - 2 = 2

y = 4

Putting it in ii

2y - 2 = x

8 - 2 = x

6 = x

A have 6 pens

B have 4 pens.
