Answer:

When HOMOZYGOUS RED FLOWER plants is crossed with HOMOZYGOUS White Flower then their offspring will be PINK in colour..

Explanation:

IN 1899 Carl Correns was working on a flowering plant named 4 o clock .....

When he crossed a true breeding red flowers plant with a true breeding white flowers 4 o clock ALL THE F 1 hybrids had pink Flowers . This new phenotype had a shade intermediate between those of parents due to intermediate amount off pigment in petals .

WHEN CORRENS SELF FERTILIZED F 1  pink , the F 2 showed all three phenotypes of Flower in ratio of

                       1 : Red : 2 Pink : 1 White

Red was homozygous for red alleles and white was homozygous for white allele...

But when allele for red and allele for white were present together in the same plant , niether of them masked the effect of each other ; rather these alleles showed incomplete dominance in the form of Pink Colour

       INCOMPLETE OR PARTIAL DOMINANCE :-

"WHEN THE PHENOTYPE OF THE HETEROZYGOTE IS INTERMEDIATE BETWEEN PHENOTYPES OF TWO HOMOZYGOTES , IT IS CALLED INCOMPLETE OR PARTIAL DOMINANCE"  .....

SINCE ,

  • there is no dominant allele , the usual capital letter and small letter distinguish dominat and recessive trait is not necessory .
  • both alleles are represented by letter R but are numbered differently to distinguish WHITE from RED ..
  • Allele for Red designated as R1 and the allele for White as R2 ...

HOPE SO THIS ANSWER WILL CLEAR ALL UR CONFUSION SO PLZ BRAINLSIT AND FOLLOW ME KINDLY ...

THX FOR GOOD QUESTION

HAVE A GOOD DAY ..:)

1 Red : 2 Pink : 1 White

Step by step explanation:

When a red flower plant is crossed with a homozygous white plant the offspring ratio will be 1 Red: 2 Pink: 1 White.

If Red flower will have alleles RR and White flower will have allele rr, the offspring will have following alleles: RR, Rr, rR, rr. The colour of the flower will be Red, Pink and White.

It shows the phenomenon of Incomplete dominance.

It this form, both of the allele cannot expressed themselves completely which leads to another phenotype. In this new phenotype the result is a combination of both the alleles.
