Answer:

80% of total race length = 12km

12÷8 = 1.5

1.5 ×10 = 15km

let's reverse check to confirm:

80% of 15km = 12km

hence correct.

Given ,

Total race completed = 80%

Length of 80% = 12 km

To Find :-

Length of total race.

Let the length of total race be x km

Acc to question,

80% of x km = 12km

=>{\dfrac {80 \times x}{100}} = 12km

=>x = {\dfrac {12 \times 100}{80}}

=> x = 15

Therefore, Length of total race is 15 km

Verification :-

Total length of race = 15km

Length of 80% of race = 12km

To Prove :-

80% of 15 is 12

Proof :-

\dfrac {80 \times 15}{100}

 = {\dfrac {1200}{100}}

= 12

Since 80% of 15 is 12, Hence Verified.
