Concept:

Projection of vector b on a =bcosθ

                where,θ is the angle between vector a and b

IT can rewritten as =(a.b)/a

Given:

a= i-j- k and b=2i-3j+k

Find:

Projection b on a

Solution:

projection of b on a=(a.b)/a

                                  =((i-j-k).(2i-j-3k))/|(i-j-k)|

                                   =(2+1+3)/√3

                                    =6/√3

                                     =2√3

Therefore, the projection of b on a is 2√3
