B is 50% of A

Given :

A is 20% more than C and B is 40% less than C

To find :

The percentage of A is B

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Assume the values of A , B , C

Let C = 100x

Since A is 20% more than C

∴ A = 100x + 20x = 120x

Again B is 40% less than C

∴ B = 100x - 40x = 60x

Step 2 of 2 :

Calculate the percentage of A is B

A = 120x and B = 60x

Hence the required percentage

\displaystyle \sf = \frac{60x}{120 x} \times 100\%

\displaystyle \sf = \frac{1}{2} \times 100\%

\displaystyle \sf = 50\%

∴ B is 50% of A
