The formulas below are true, but they’re basically useless for practical purposes. If someone tells me a forecast in Celsius and I think in Fahrenheit, you need a quick rule of thumb that’s close. For Celsius to Fahrenheit, take Celsius, double it, add 30, and lob of another degree or two if it’s hot. For Fahrenheit to Celsius, take off 30, divide by two, then tack on a degree or so.
For pounds to kg, divide by two, then lob off about 10 more (if we’re dealing with people sized amounts). For kg to pounds, multiply by 2, then add about 15 more.
Is this exact - no. But it’s enough to decide whether you’re wearing shorts or a coat, and if that lifter guy is just pretty strong or definitely lying.
