Step-by-step explanation:

      Given

If A is an event of a random experiment such that P(A):P(A/)=17:15 and n(S)=640 then find P(A/) n(A)

Given P(A) : P(A/) = 17:15

 So P(A) / (1 – P(A)) = 17 / 15

  15 P(A) = 17 – 17 P(A)

So 15 P(A) + 17 P(A) = 17

So 32 P(A) = 17

So P(A) = 17/32

Now P(A) = n(A) / n(S)

  17/32 =  n(A) / 640

  So n(A) = 640 x 17 / 32

So n(A) = 340

Now P(A/) = 1 -  P(A)

                = 1 – 17/32

So P(A/) = 15/32
