Solution :

In crystalline solid the atoms are arranged in crystal lattice. CCP lattice is one of them that stands for close cubic packing.

In CCP lattice the atoms are present at the corners and the face centres of the cube.

In CCP lattice:

No. of tetrahedral voids : 8

No. of octahedral voids : 4

No. of Oxygen atoms in the lattice : 4

A occupies half of tetrahedral voids.

Therefore no. of A = 4

Remaining no. of tetrahedral voids = 4

B occupies equal no. of tetrahedral voids and octahedral voids = 4 + 4 = 8

No. of Oxygen atoms = 4

Therefore, ratio of A:B:O = 4:8:4 = 1:2:1

Formula of solid is AB2O .
