SOLUTION :

Given that the alphabets a is substituted by 4, b by 3, c by 2, d by 4, e by 3, f by 2 and so on

Similarly we can assign values for remaining alphabets as below

g      h      i

j       k       l      

m     n      o

p      q      r

s       t       u

v      w      x

y       z

From this we have that for word sick , s assigns 4, i assigns  2, c assigns  2 and  k assigns  4

Now the total of the numerical values of the letters of the word sick is 4+2+2+3

=11

∴ the total of the numerical values of the letters of the word sick is 11
