Given:

acceleration of lift=4m/s²(upwards)

To Find:

% change in apparent weight of a person

Solution:

let the mass of the man=m, so weight of the man in lift at rest position(W1)=mg

when the lift moves upwards geff=g+a=10+4=14m/s²

so apparent weight( W2) =m×14=14m

%change in apparent weight=W2-W1/W1×100=14m-10m/10m×100%=40%

So apparent weight of the person will increased by 40%

So correct option the ques is D
