To find:

The angle of deviation is​?

Solution:

From given, we have,  

The refractive index of the prism is 1.414.

For a total internal reflection to take place the refractive index (r)min should be greater than C and for (r2)min, r1 should be maximum, so we have, C = 45°.

The angle of deviation = 2C = 2 × 45° = 90°

Therefore, the angle of deviation is 90°
