When a line is equally inclined to the two axes it means the value of the y-intercept and the x-intercept will be equal though they may differ in sign. For example, the line will pass through (a , 0) and (0 , a) giving a gradient of:
(0-a)/(a-0) = -1
It can also pass through (-a, 0) and (0 , a) giving a gradient of:
(0-a)/(-a-0) = 1
The line can also pass through (-a, a) and (0 , -a) or (a, 0) and (0, -a)
(0-a)/(a-0) = -1
It can also pass through (-a, 0) and (0 , a) giving a gradient of:
(0-a)/(-a-0) = 1
The line can also pass through (-a, a) and (0 , -a) or (a, 0) and (0, -a)
