Answer:

Explanation:

let the value of g at height h = g'

now there is an equation to find the acceleration dur to gravity at a height above the earth's surface . If you are not aware of the equation I will tell you

The equation is :

g' = g/(1 + h/R)²

here ,

g = acceleration due to gravity at the surface of the earth

g' = acceleration due to gravity at a height h

R = radius of the earth

According to the question,

h = R

now putting the value,

g' = g/(1 + h/R)²

   = g/(1 + R/R)²  = g/4

=> g' = g/4                               .............. eq 1

now,

weight = mass x acceleration due to gravity

W = mg         (at the surface of the earth)        .......... eq 1

let the weight at height h be W',

W' = mg'                     .............. from eq 1

    = mg/4

    = W/4                        ...........from eq 2

therefore the weight becomes 1/4th of the Weight at the surface of the earth
