Let the rate along the current i.e, speed upstream b
Speed downstream abe x km/hr
=4.5km/hr
> ½ (a+b) = 6
⇒ ½ (4.5 +x ) = 6⇒ 4.5 + x = 12
⇒ x = 12 – 4.5 = 7.5
speed along the current = 7.5 km/hr
