Answer:

35 km

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

Case 1 :

A man travels at a speed of 30km/h , and reaches his destination 10 minutes late,.

Case 2:

If he travels with a speed of 42 km/h , he will reach his destination 10 minutes early.

To Find :

The distance he traveled by him,.

Solution :

Let the correct time be x hours,

We know that,

Speed = \frac{Distance}{Time}

Case 1 :

Speed = 30km/h

Total time taken = (x hours + 10 minutes) = (x \ hours + \frac{10}{60} hours)

Distance = Speed × Time = 30 Km/h × (x + \frac{10}{60})hours = (30x + 5) Km.

Case 2 :

Speed = 42 km/h

Total time taken = (x hours - 10 minutes) = (x \ hours - \frac{10}{60} hours)

Distance = Speed × Time = 42 Km/h × (x - \frac{10}{60})hours = 42x - 7 Km.

Since the distance travelled is same,

30x + 5 = 42x - 7

5 + 7 = 42x - 30x

12 = 12x ⇒ x = 1 hour,

By substituting the value of x in distance equation,

We get,

⇒ 30x + 5 = 30(1) + 5 = 35 km.

∴ The distance traveled by him is 35km
