a-b = 7 and ab = 18

a=7+b

so ab = 18

(7+b)b = 18

(b)square + 7b - 18 = 0

this will give the value of 'b'. and then we can find 'a' to finally find (a+b)

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given, a-b = 7

a= 7+b-----(i)

Also, ab =18

=>(7+b)b=18

=> b^2 +7b -18=0

=> (b+9) (b-2)

=> b= -9 (or) 2

If b=-9, a=-2

a+b = -11.

And

If b=2, a=9

a+b= 11.

Hope this helps!!
