If a number is multiplied we get 2 and subtract or added we get 5 what is the answer

Step-by-step explanation:
Answer-10
Step-by-step explanation:
This is how I’d do it. Let’s say the unknown number is x
and from the question, we can write it algebraically x*2 + 5 = 25 and solve for x like this:
x*2 + 5 = 25
x*2 = 25–5
x*2 = 20
x = 20/2
x = 10
Another way we could solve this question is working backwards with the information we have.
Our final result is 25, and before that, 5 was added to the number we had previously. To get that previous number, we do the opposite of adding 5, that is subtracting 5
25 - 5 leaves us with 20
Now in the step before that, the number was multiplied by 2. Similar to the step above, we do the opposite of that, which is divide by 2.
20 divided by 2 is 10, which is our answer.
I find this second method is easier to grasp if you’re not familiar with algebra yet, but it’s also easier to loose track and make an error, especially if the question is a lot longer. That’s why I’d personally use method 1! Hope that helps :)
