Answer:

17

Step-by-step explanation:

let the required number be ' x '

given that if a number is tripled , then it gives the same result as when 34 is added to it .

according to first condition :

when the number is tripled ,

then the number formed = 3 x

according to second statement :

when 28 is added to the number

then the obtained number = x +34

since,

the both statements given the same result .then

3 x = x + 34

3 x - x = 34

=> 2 x = 34

=> x =17

therefore , the required number is 17

verify : when x = 17

               3 x = x + 34

           3 × 17= 17 + 34

                 51=51

The required number = 17

Given :

A number is tripled it gives a same result when 34 is added

To find :

The number

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Form the equation

Let the required number = x

When the number is tripled it gives 3x

When 34 is added to x we get x + 34

By the given condition

3x = x + 34

Step 2 of 2 :

Find the number

\displaystyle \sf{ 3x = x + 34 }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 3x  -  x  =  34}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 2x  =  34}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x  =   \frac{34}{2} }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x  =   17 }

Hence the required number = 17
