EXPLANATION.

The numerator of a fraction is 2 less than the

denominator.

Let the numerator of the fraction = ( x - 2 )

Let the denominator of the fraction = x

fraction become = x - 2 / x

if 1 is added to it's denominator, it becomes

1/2.

=> x - 2 / x + 1 = 1/2

=> 2 ( x - 2 ) = x + 1

=> 2x - 4 = x + 1

=> x = 5

Therefore,

Numerator = x - 2 = 5 - 2 = 3

Denominator = x = 5

Fraction = 3/5
