Given :   a tin box with an open lid is to be made with length 150cm, breadth 80cm and height 100cm,

the cost of  tin is Rs. 400 per sq.m

To Find : how much money will be spent if

Solution:

length 150cm, breadth 80cm and height 100cm

an open lid

l = 150 cm

b = 80 cm

h = 100 cm

Hence total Surface area  =  lb  + 2(l  + b) h

= 150 * 80  +  2(150 + 80) * 100

= 12000  + 200(230)

= 12000 + 46000

= 58000

total Surface area  = 58000 cm²

1 m² = 10000 cm²

total Surface area  = 5.8 m²

cost of  tin is Rs. 400 per sq.m

=> money will be spent  400 * 5.8

= 2320

Rs 2320 will be spent
