Answer:

Given,

A={p,q,r}

Let, B is a proper subset of A and c is all possible subset of A

since number of element of A =3

total number of subset of A (C)=2^3 =8

proper subset of A (B)=2^3 -1 =7

subset of A (C) ={ {} , {p} , {q} , {r} , {p,q} , {p,r} , {q,r} , {p,q,r} }

proper subset of A (B) ={ {} , {p} , {q} , {r} , {p,q} , {p,r} , {q,r} }

since, {p,q,r} subset all element belongs to super set A so it is discarded in proper subset.

Hence the number of proper subset of Set A is 7.
