After mitosis, two identical cells are produced with the same original number of chromosomes of the parent's cell. In this case, if a cell has 12 chromosomes, each daughter cell will have 12 chromosomes after mitosis.

Hence in mitosis it will be 12.

In the meiosis 1 it will be also 12

In meiosis 2, it will become 6

because the number of chromosomes become half.

Hope this helps you ❤️

Given:

The parent cell has 12 chromosomes.

To find:

  • Chromosome in daughter cell after mitosis 1, meiosis 1, and meiosis 2 ?

Solution:

  • Mitosis type of cell division in which the daughter cells will have the same number of chromosomes as that of the parent cell.

So, after mitosis 1 , chromosomes in daughter cells = 12.

  • Meiosis Phase 1 will be reductional division as the 2 daughter cells will have half chromosomes.

So, after meiosis 1 , chromosomes in daughter cells = 12/2 = 6.

  • Meiosis Phase 2 is similar to mitosis. It is equational division.

So, after meiosis 2 , chromosomes in daughter cells = 6.
