If a parity bit is added to a four bit word, how many output lines will be required after multiplexing ?

The answer of your question is "5"
when you add four data bits with the one one parity bit that will make the 5 bits.

But the parity bit sometimes also known check bit because it is generally act as the check for the set of binary  values  and is usually added by the parity generator  while the Multiplexer is the device which is used to to select the one  output line out of many input lines in short it is forward the inputs into only one output. So these two things are the different one.
