if a partical moving towards East with a velocity 30 after 10 minutes moving towards West with a velocity 20 then find change in velocity velocity?​

SOLUTION.

As we know velocity is a vector quantity and we need to shown sign for the direction of the velocity.

There is only one factor which can change the direction as well as the magnitude of velocity which is called Acceleration

Acc to your question....

Initial velocity = 30m/sec

Final velocity = -20m/sec

Negative sign is because the direction of final velocity is opposite to that of Initial velocity.

Change in velocity = Final - Initial

Change in velocity = -20 - 30

Change in velocity = -50 m/sec

Acceleration is the change in velocity in that interval of time .

Time taken = 600sec

Acceleration = dv/dt

Acceleration = -50/600

Acceleration = -0.083m/sec²
