If a particle moves 20m with velocity 6m/s and then 30m with velocity 8m/s. Find the average velocity of the particle​

We know that,

Average velocity = Total Distance / Total Time

Total distance = 20 + 30

                         = 50m

Time taken for first case = Distance / Velocity

                                          = 20/6 = 10/3 s

Time taken for second case = Distance / Velocity

                                                 = 30/8 = 15/4

Total time = 10/3 + 15/4

                  = (40+45)/12

                  = 85/12

Hence,

Average velocity = 50 / (85/12)

                              = 50 * 12/85

                              = 7.058 m/s
