First, convert 72 km/h in m/sec
72 km/h = 72x1000/60x60 = 200 m/sec
Now, distance = speed x time
Distance = 200x5
Distance travelled = 1000 m

Given:

  • Speed of a person=72km/hr
  • Time for which person travelled=5min

To find:

  • Distance traveled by person in that time with the given speed

Solution:

Let's convert the given speed in meter per minute because the time is given in minutes.

To convert km/hr in metre/minutes, we have to multiply it by 1000/60.

So,

⇒ Speed of person=72km/hr=72×1000/60 m/min

⇒ Speed of person=72km/hr=1200 m/min

Now we have obtained speed in meter per minute.

___________________________

• Applying formula for distance

» Distance=Speed×Time

⇒ Distance=1200 m/min ×5 min

⇒ Distance=6000 meters

⇒ Distance=6000/1000 Kilometres

⇒ Distance=6 km

So the required distance is 6 km.
