Given:

If a person exercises more, more energy is utilised.

To find:

Dependent variable?

Solution:

Consider a function as follows :

 \boxed{ \bold{y = f(x)}}

Here , we can say that:

  • "x" is the independent variable as we can put any value so as to obtain a corresponding value of "y".

  • However "y" is the dependent variable as its value is dependent solely on the specific value of "x".

Now, let's come to the question:

  • When we are exercising , we are using and burning energy by doing muscle work.

  • So here , a man can decide how much to exercise (value of exercise), hence it is the independent variable.

  • But the man can't decide the amount of energy utilised , because the value of energy is dependent upon the value of exercise , hence "utilisation of energy" is the dependent variable.

"UTILISATION OF ENERGY" is the dependent variable.

Hope It Helps.
