Placebo is also called fake medication, or pill that has no medicinal value.  Still Placebo works, simply because it plays on the minds of patients.

There are times when patients may not be ill, but they feel ill, and psychologically, they may be looking for some kind of medicine. That’s where placebo works, if you have pain and you take placebo, it works, it means that you actually have pain that is not so serious in medical terms.
