Provided that:

• A person walks 10 m due south in 10 seconds

• Then he moved 10 metres due east in the next 10 second

• Afterthat he moved 10 meters due north in the next 10 seconds

To calculate: His velocity!?

Solution: His velocity = 1/3 mps

Explanation: Kindly refer to attachment.The man moves like that from his initial position, as firstly to South, then to East and at last to the North. And we are asked to calculate the velocity and we know that

  • {\small{\underline{\boxed{\pmb{\sf{Velocity \: = \dfrac{Displacement}{Total \: time}}}}}}}

And we know that, displacement is the shortest distance between starting and ending point. And his starting point is in. position and the ending point of his journey is North direction. And therefore, the shortest distance became between them is 10 metres.

Displacement = 10 metres

Total time = 10 + 10 + 10 = 30 sec

Therefore, velocity became

:\implies \sf Velocity \: = \dfrac{Displacement}{Total \: time} \\ \\ :\implies \sf Velocity \: = \dfrac{10}{30} \\ \\ :\implies \sf Velocity \: = \dfrac{1}{3} \: ms^{-1}
