In dia-magnetic materials, magnetic field lines are repelled. When placed in a non-uniform magnetic field the material moves from stronger field to weaker field. When placed in uniform magnetic field, its longest dimension is aligned perpendicular to the field. examples are copper, gold, water etc.
For ferromagnetic material, the phenomena is exactly opposite. examples are iron, steel, etc
I have provided for dia magnetic as well as non uniform magnetic field .
Hope you have a good jee mains
