The photosynthesis and respiration takes place in day time .If a plant is releasing CO2 and taking in O2 ,that doesn't mean photosynthesis is not occuring because plants are living beings and they undergo metabolism constantly 'burns' food taking oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide.
