Hi,

Here is your answer

Given:

Ratio of boys :Ratio of girls=8:5

Number of boys is greater than girls by 9

To find:

Number of boys and girls

Solution:

Let as take the number of boys as 8x and number of girls as 5x

8x=5x+9(given)

8x-5x=9

3x=9

x=3

We know that number of boys=8x

Substituting the value of x

We get,

Number of boys=8×3=24 boys

Similarly we know that number of girls=5x

Substituting the value of x

We get,

Number of girls=5×3=15 girls

Hence, the number of boys and girls are 24 and 15 respectively.

Hope this helps you.
