if a rectangle have length 4x -y and breadth is x+4 , and another length is 2x+y+8 and breadth is 2y than find the value of x and y ?

AB = 4x - y , DC = 2x + y + 8
AD = 2y , BC = x + 4
As in rectangle opposite sides are equal so
In rectangle ABCD,
AB = DC , ( opposite sides of rectangle )
4x - y = 2x + y + 8
4x - 2x = y + y + 8
2x = 2y + 8
2x - 2y = 8
2 ( x - y ) = 8
x - y = 8 / 2
x - y = 4
x = 4 + y. - equation 1
Also AD = BC ( opposite sides of rectangle )
2y = x + 4
2y = 4 + y +4
( Putting value if x from equation 1 )
2y - y = 8
y = 8 - equation 2
As
x = 4 + y ( Putting value if y from equation 2 )
x = 4 + 8
x = 12
So value of x = 12
and value of y = 8
