If the red light is passed through a dilute solution of chlorophyll and is measured through the spectrophotometer one can find the amount of light passing through the solution.

Since the dilution chlorophyll is a chemical solution, as we pass a beam of light through it, it absorbs some amount of light and spectrophotometers are used to measure this.

The intensity of light after passing through the chemical solution is measured.
