If A represents the Natural numbers less than 20 and B represents the even numbers less than 20, what is A\ B?

Given : A represents the Natural numbers less than 20 and B represents the even numbers less than 20

To find : A-B ,  A U B  , A ∩ B

Solution:

A={ x  : x ∈ Natural number less than 20}

= {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19}

B={x :   x ∈ even number less than 20}

={2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18}

A-B={1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15,17,19}

={x :   x ∈  odd number less than 20}

A U B = {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19}

{ x  : x ∈ Natural number less than 20}

= A

A ∩ B = {2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18}

= {x :   x ∈ even number less than 20}

= B
