Given : a rope is tied at an angle of 60°

To Find : the ratio of the length of the rope to the length of the pole

Solution:

rope is tied at an angle of 60°

case 1  : angle of 60° is with ground / Horizontal

Then

Sin 60°  =  length  of pole / Rope length

=> √3 / 2 =   length  of pole / Rope length

=>  Rope length /   length  of pole = 2/√3

ratio of the length of the rope to the length of the pole is  2  : √3

Case  2 : angle of 60° is with vertical pole

Then

Cos 60°  =  length  of pole / Rope length

=> 1 / 2 =   length  of pole / Rope length

=>  Rope length /   length  of pole = 2

ratio of the length of the rope to the length of the pole is  2  : 1
